KupunaWiki was created in 2015 as a referral network available dedicated for our kupuna (seniors), who are seeking qualified professionals in areas of health, finance, senior housing, estate planning and real estate. Since then, this resource has grown to provide a wide range of information that is pertinent to our local senior community. KupunaWiki Radio, which will now be our podcast, is the latest step in fulfilling our desire to help, educate, and reach our kupuna to truly make Hawai‘i the best place for seniors to live.

Peter Reyes, Program Director, from Catholic Charities Hawaii's Benefits Enrollment Center discusses the services they provide to assist Medicare recipients in applying for benefits and assistive services they may be eligible for to ensure that they have access to services they need to maintain their health and independence.
This includes assistance in applying for Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) services. SNAP assists kupuna with limited income access healthy and nutritional food. Older adults have not been utilizing this helpful program mainly due to the complex and lengthy application process.
Knowledgeable staff members work one-on one with individuals to walk them through the application process, assist in collecting necessary supporting documents, assist in filling out the application(s) and help submit the application for various assistance programs available like SNAP, Medicare Part D, Medicare Savings Program, Medicaid, and the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program.
